Q:  How long do I wear CopperPlast for?

A:  We recommend that CopperPlast is changed every 24 hours.  When a new CopperPlast is applied, place it on a fresh area of skin.  Some CopperPlast users tell us that they wear a patch for longer periods than 24 hours but we would not recommend this as the skin has been covered and needs to breath.

Q:  can it help me

A: Copper therapy is becoming more popular and is claimed to relieve the pain of arthritis and rheumatism.  CopperPlast worn for at least a month has been found to ease the aches and pains of arthritis in many sufferers.  The theory is that trace elements of copper from the Copper Patch penetrate the skin and replaces any lacking essential copper elements in the body.  Research shows that 3 out of 4 people receive benefits from wearing CopperPlast.

Q: How does wearing copper on my skin help to ease pain in other parts of my body?

A: Research has shown that when copper is worn in contact with the skin for a period of time, it can be absorbed into the bloodstream and distributed throughout the body.  Doctors have observed that copper reacts with perspiration to form copper salts, it is this salt that can penetrate the skin.  This goes some way to explain the popularity of this preventative talisman that was worn as long ago as the time of the Ancient Romans.

Q: How can CopperPlast possibly ease my joint and muscle pain?

A: For many, many years, people have wondered the same thing, but they noticed that copper really does work.  Recently studies have indicated that trace elements of  copper in the bloodstream can inhibit the growth of mycoplasma, this is suspected of causing painful inflammation in joints. There are other studies that estimate up to 75% of the North American population is deficient in copper. It is suspected that this is due to the fact that copper is not easily absorbed by the digestive system, and partly due to the general depletion of trace minerals in our soils due to decades of intensive farming.

Q: Why should I wear a copper patch instead of a copper bracelet?

A: There are many reasons, the traditional copper bracelet has many disadvantages, for a start not everyone is comfortable wearing jewelry.  Wearers of copper bracelets will be aware of the unsightly discolouration of the skin around the wrist area, additional wear and tear on cuffs and sleeves, forgetting to wear it and the stigma attached to wearing such a bracelet that tells everyone that you are a rheumatism or arthritis sufferer.  For one or all of these reasons the wearer often ceases use and the bracelet is discarded.  CopperPlast is convenient and discreet but most importantly of all it works more effectively as it is in constant contact with your skin.  CopperPlast allows much better skin contact than a loose fitting copper bracelet, allowing for more effective transfer of copper to the body.

Q: Once I start wearing a CopperPlast, how long does it take to work?

A: Typically, it could take anywhere from several days to two weeks as everyone is different.

Q: Has there been any research to support your claims for CopperPlast?

A: Yes, there there has been much research carried out over the years into copper therapy, by way of an example, here are some excerpts from an article in The Medical Post from September 1989 entitled "Arthritis, Heart disease linked to copper deficiency"

Dr Kleway, who is head of research for the U.S.D.A. center, noticed that the mice in those studies were on high-fat diets that did not contain any copper. Repeating the studies using a high-fat diet, both with and without copper, he showed that the mice with added copper lived five times longer and did not develop cardiac abnormalities. When a man was placed on a low copper diet (0.8mg/day, comparable to the daily intake of copper among many Americans), his blood cholesterol soared over 30 points, returning to baseline only with copper supplementation".

"The U.S. Department of Agriculture estimates that three quarters of the nation’s population consumes less than the 2-3 mg of copper per day that are deemed safe and adequate."

"At the Human Nutrition Research Center in Grand Forks, N.D., Dr Leslie Kleway believes landmark studies blaming dietary fat for clogging the hearts of mice should actually have blamed a low copper diet.

"A growing body of surprising research is giving copper a shining reputation as one of the key links to a number of diseases ranging from arthritis to heart disease"

Q: What is Copper?

A:   Copper is a reddish metal that occurs naturally in rock, soil, water, sediment, and air. Its average concentration in the earth's crust is about 50 parts copper per million parts soil (ppm). Copper also occurs naturally in plants and animals. It is an essential element for all known living organisms including humans and other animals.
